CHUK Edwin Yin Man
竺諺民(1996年生於香港,現居香港)2018年畢業於香港浸會大學視覺藝術院。主要創作媒介為攝影及劇場藝術,並就地方、日常物及記憶等題材進行個人創作。現為進念。二十面體全職演員(2022-)。
竺氏經常遊蕩及重訪城市中日常卻被忽視的近郊地方。攝影是一個讓他打開身體覺察並在別於日常生活的語境下探索當下身處之處的過程。2020年入圍香港國際攝影節-新一代影像創作者育成計劃,成功舉辦首個個人展覽《路牌、電燈柱、樹》。畢業作品《那個我們都不曾記得的地方》(2018)獲學院頒發視覺藝術獎。
其表演學習揉合西方賈克樂寇、格洛托夫斯基及東方傳統身體如太極、舞踏等,並專注於集體編作的創作方式。2018年完成鄧樹榮戲劇工作室專業形體戲劇青年訓練兩年制課程。並於2021年師隨吳偉碩(梵谷)完成由馬戲班舉辦長達400小時的「心體一技」跨文化表演研習課程。
劇場藝術團體—吃掉荒原創團成員之一。2019年以首個演出《遠方除了遙遠一無所有》參與不貧窮藝術節 x 香港,榮獲與阿德萊德藝穗節共同頒發的 Adelaide Fringe Tour Ready Award,並於 2020年前往澳州巡演。最新的裝置、展演計劃《巡禮》獲選參與PQ2023布拉格劇場設計四年展香港學生館。
CHUK Edwin Yin Man (b. 1996, Hong Kong; currently based in Hong Kong) graduated from the Academy of Visual Arts of Hong Kong Baptist University in 2018. With photography and theatre as his primary mediums, places, everyday objects, and memory are often the shared themes in his works. Currently, he is a full-time performer and artistic coordinator of Danny Yung from the experiential theatre company Zuni Icosahedron. (2022 - ).
CHUK often wanders and revisits the outskirts adjacent to the city but are often overlooked. Photography is a process for him to open up his physical awareness and explore the place of being in the moment in the context of being detached from everyday living. In 2020, he was shortlisted for Hong Kong International Photo Festival’s Photographer Incubator Project and successfully hosted his first solo exhibition Road Signs, Lamp Posts, Trees. His graduation work “The Place We Have Never Remembered” (2018) received the Academy of Visual Arts Award.
He has received training from the Western and Eastern streams, including Jacques Lecoq, Jerzy Grotowski, Chinese Tai Chi, Japanese Butoh, etc., focusing on the collective creation of devised theatre. In 2018, he completed a two-year Professional Physical Theatre Youth Training Programme by Tang Shu-wing Theatre Studio. Later in 2021, he completed The Circus Theatre Group’s psychophysical performance course led by Andy Ng Wai Shek with over four hundred hours of lessons and practices.
CHUK is one of the founding members of Feast on Waste Land – a theatre troupe. The troupe’s first performance Far Far Away joined the Let’s Be Together Art Festival x Hong Kong and received the Adelaide Fringe Tour Ready Award co-presented by Adelaide Fringe Festival. In 2020, the show was toured in Australia. The latest installation and performance project, Pilgrimages, was selected for the Hong Kong Student Exhibition of Prague Quadrennial 2023.
Theatrical productions participated include Interrupted Dream by Zuni Icosahedron (InlanDimensions International Arts Festival 2022, Poland, Bangkok Theatre Festival, Thailand), Papa by Theatre de la Feuille (Hong Kong, China), FOLLOWMi Sammi Cheng World Tour, Far Far Away by Feast on Waste Land (Hong Kong, Adelaide), Interactive Promenade Theatre - Odysseus: The Voyage Home by The Absolutely Fabulous Theatre Connection, Physical Theatre Institute Final Presentation (2018/19, 2017/18) by Tang Shu-wing Theatre Studio, etc.
